About  Steffi ...
Steffi is currently a junior Kinesiology major. She has hopes of becoming a physical or occupational therapist in the future and has been a part of Delta Omega Chi for 2 years. Steffi learned about this organization through her friends who were previously in DOC.
What made you choose DOC and become extremely involved with it?
"DOC has many opportunities for each individual to know more about their chosen profession, as well as other health professions for those who are not entirely sure of what he/she wants to do. I also am someone who loves to volunteer, and DOC has provided many interesting external events that have given me a chance to experience something new, while also getting to volunteer with the friends I have made in DOC."
Has DOC improved your experience at UH in any way?
"DOC has truly improved my experience at UH. I have made a lot of friends with different interests in the health field as well as students who want to pursue the same profession as me. Also, being a member of DOC feels like you are in a family, as everyone you meet will support each other and help you with anything you need."
"Having the grades and a 4.0 are very good to have to be a strong candidate, but graduate programs don't necessarily look at that in its entirety. They often look at what kind of person you are and how their program can benefit you. DOC has also helped me realize the importance of what it means to be a good health professional. It is important to know what you are going into and I think DOC really helps you know the insights of each health profession you want to pursue."

What made you choose DOC and become extremely involved with it?
"When I came to the fall kick-off and met all of the members and officers, I immediately felt a really good vibe. Everyone was just really awesome. Being someone who is a commuter it is really easy to get isolated, so I really wanted to get involved on campus so I could feel closer to my peers. Plus, there were so many great opportunities with DOC that really have helped me to grow, and motivated me to pursue a career in medicine."
Has DOC improved your experience at UH in any way?
"Yes, most definitely! Being in DOC has given me such a sense of community at UH. I'm so thankful for all of the great experiences and friendships DOC has brought me. Pursuing a career in health field can be daunting, and being a part of this organization has made all of my goals seem much more attainable. I see the relationships built through DOC lasting a lifetime!"
How has DOC enriched your knowledge about pursuing a career in healthcare?
"The guest speakers, volunteer opportunities, workshops and school tours have all provided me great exposure to what it is really like to pursue a career in the health field. Getting matched with a mentor through DOC has also helped me so much, it is really awesome to have someone to aspire to be and get great advice from!"
