BRANDON HO | CLARA ANDREWS | DUY NGUYEN
Brandon
Hello, I am Brandon Ho!
About Brandon ...
Brandon is currently a junior who is majoring in Biology, a minor in Health, and is pursuing to be a dentist. He has been with Delta Omega Chi for two semesters and learned about the organization through one of his best friends, Matthew Chang.
What made you choose DOC and become extremely involved with it?
"I chose to join because of the versatility as an organization. Not only do they help you to become a strong applicant for whatever professional school you're applying to, they also want you to have fun and stay relaxed while doing so. From the very first meeting, I was welcomed by so many of the officers and members, it felt like being a part of an extended family. You get a lot of chances to get to know other people through the socials, which are a great way to make friends on campus. And once you make friends in DOC, it makes the volunteering even more enjoyable!"
Has DOC improved your experience at UH in any way?
"DOC was the first organization that I joined during my undergraduate career, and my only regret was that I didn't join any earlier. I had an amazing time volunteering with other members, attending various health workshops, and just hanging out with people who share the same passion in pursuing a health career as I do. If you are even slightly interested in a pre-health field, then I highly recommend joining DOC. It's a perfect mix of community, learning, and fun!"
"One of the great things about DOC is that they don't specialize in any one career. They have a variety of different seminars and presentations that allowed me to gain some insight on all types of health professions, and they really help to prepare you for the realities of the careers. The volunteering events also helped me to appreciate the intricacies of the health field. Going out into the community and working alongside my peers was a phenomenal experience that only strengthened my desire to go into the health field and work to serve others."

Clara
Hello, I am Clara Andrews!
About Clara...
Clara is currently a sophomore who majors in Health, minors in biology, and is pursuing to be a general surgeon. She has been with Delta Omega Chi since the fall of 2018. Andrews heard about the organization from searching for opportunities for involvement and stumbled upon a display of Delta Omega Chi.
What made you choose DOC and become extremely involved with it?
"I choose DOC because of the acceptance I felt from the members and officers alike, in addition to the great opportunities they were able to provide. DOC has put together the most high quality events as compared to other pre-health organizations. I look forward to each event and participating actively in the organization because of the value that stems from each event provided to its members."
Has DOC improved your experience at UH in any way?
"Yes, Delta Omega Chi has improved my attached connection to UH in addition to the fulfillment of community enriched care for the third-ward. Without Delta Omega Chi, there's a possibility I could have gone on in my undergraduate career feeling isolated and disconnected from the students and staff. The community events have also exposed me to the opportunities Houston has to offer in health care and volunteer work and how much dedication around the city is being put into effect to make the communities thrive."
How has DOC enriched your knowledge about pursuing a career in healthcare?
"Delta Omega Chi has provided me with opportunities to expand my knowledge of the medical school process and have a deeper enrichment into what it takes to become a physician. The ability to speak to medical students who graduated from the University of Houston and medical professionals alike exposed me to a greater understanding of what to expect in a few years and different tactics to help me along the way. In addition, the volunteer programs and medical events have strengthened my passion for healthcare and medicine."
